On December 3-4, 2016 the IV National Assembly of Public Organization "Ukrainian Medical Students’ Association" (UMSA) was held at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. During the event the Standing Committee of Public Health (SCOPH) held a meeting wherein the reports of local representatives were presented, the priority areas of work for the next year have been defined, namely: mental health (mental health), donation, the problem of self-medication. Also according to the taken provisions it is possible for 2 assistants of the National Coordinator to work in the committee.

On 25th November, 2016 the University round of the City Olympiad in German language, which took place in several steps, was held at the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Students of higher educational institutions of Kharkiv took part in the Olympiad.

On 1 December, 2016 at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University an action that was dedicated to the World Day Against AIDS was held and was performed with the support of the Student Council of the University and the charity fund “Parus”. The students of the School of medicine acted as volunteers and one more time demonstrated their active social position.

On November 21, 2016, the socio-medical action dedicated to the World Day against Visual impairments took place at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Everyone could test the visual acuity, get acquainted with the methods of prevention of eye diseases and know about innovative medical capabilities.

Teachers of the Department of General and Clinical Pathology – Head of the Department, Doctor of Medicine, Full Professor Olena S. Protsenko and Associate Professor, Candidate of Medicine Olena V. Shapoval – together with students Julia Zhadan, Taisia Sazonova (2nd year, group VI-201) and Eugenia Gusak (6th year, group VI-69) took part in the scientific and practical conference with international participation “Actual issues of laboratory medicine”, which took place in Kharkiv National Medical University on November 23-24, 2016. T. Sazonova was awarded a diploma in the nomination "The original solution of scientific problems".

With the help of the Students Council and the Primary Trade - Union organization of postgraduates and doctoral candidates of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University of the annual competition «Alma Mater» took place. The first year students of all faculties had the opportunity to show their skills and talents over a period of one week.
