Educational work of the Department of Surgical Diseases

The educational work of the Department of Surgical Diseases is one of the priority areas of its activity. The department trains students in 7 disciplines

Student training at the department is carried out in accordance with the recommendations of standard programs of disciplines approved by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and improved within the framework of regulated norms by the departmental teams. Teaching of all disciplines is carried out in accordance with the recommendations and regulations of the Bologna Process.

The educational process at the department is carried out using modern multimedia and computer technology, a sufficient number of visual materials with active encouragement of students to the clinical and scientific work of the department, as well as with the use of innovative approaches to the educational process (online consultations for students, discussion with students of various issues in voice and test chats, remote control of the level of preparation of students for the KROK licensing exam, etc.).

During the educational activity at the department, students have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the work of modern medical and diagnostic equipment at the disposal of the department: surgical video endocomplexes Karl Storz (Germany); electrosurgical apparatus ESVA-350М/120Б "Nadiya-2" (Ukraine), Karl Storz (Germany); ultrasonic surgical installation "Harmonic scalpel Ultracision" (Ethicon Endo Surgery, USA); ultrasonic devices Sonoace 4800 from the company "Medison", Toshiba Nemio and Philips HDI 4000; video endoscopic complexes from Olympus (Japan); X-ray complex Superix 180 N.

Practical classes are held in conditions that are as close to real ones as possible using the capabilities of the simulation center of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Students, together with the teachers of the department, take part in clinical studies of patients, the selection and implementation of treatment and diagnostic measures in specific clinical cases, take part in clinical analyses, rounds, symposia, consiliums, etc., during which they receive invaluable clinical and practical experience already at the stage of study.

Special attention in the process of educational activities is paid to the preparation of students for the licensing test exam KROK-2, which is carried out with the consideration of test tasks from all available databases and test banks, specially developed for the medical faculty software, computer classes and multimedia equipment, Internet systems for distance learning and control of the level of knowledge, personal and online consulting by teachers on issues of preparation for KROK throughout the entire period of studying the discipline with an even distribution of the test load on students. The effectiveness of preparing students for the KROK in the disciplines of the department is confirmed by the results of the exam, according to which the medical faculty annually occupies leading ranking positions among medical universities in Ukraine.

During the educational activities, the teachers of the department's disciplines select and prepare the best students to participate in All-Ukrainian Olympiads, competitions, conferences, congresses, etc., during which students of the Faculty of Medicine annually take prizes and are encouraged with diplomas, thanks, certificates, awards, etc.
