On April 24, 2017 the student male team in basketball of the School of Medicine reached the final of the competition of the 67th Student Spartakiad of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, but lost to the team of the School of Philosophy. As a result, our students took an honorable second place and became silver medal winners. Our team was supported by the Dean of the School of Medicine, Doctor of Medicine, full professor I. V. Belozerov, Associate Dean for Character Building with foreign students, Candidate of Medicine, associate professor K. E. Shamun and numerous fans from the school.

On April 24, 2017 the first selection round of the annual vocal contest "Karazina Karaoke Kings" was held in the karaoke hall of the night club "Misto", which is supported by the Student Council and Trade Union Organization of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral students of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. On the first day of the contest, students of the School of Medicine and the School of Psychology of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University presented 2 songs of a different genre.

On April 20-21, 2017, full professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University Olena M. Fedota took part in the international scientific and practical conference "Actual issues of multifactor and hereditary pathology. Orphan metabolic diseases », which was organized with the assistance of Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, National Children's Hospital "OKHMATDET" of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and Association of Specialists in Medical and Laboratory Genetics.

On April 13-14, 2017, the II stage of the All-Ukrainian Students’ Olympiad in Medical Biochemistry was held at Bogomolets National Medical University. More than 30 students of 1-3 courses of medical higher educational institutions of Ukraine took part in the event. The Olympiad included three stages: testing, writing and a practical tour.

On April 23, 2017 at Unifekht Sport and Fencing Club mini-football competitions for the Dean’s bowl of the School of Medicine, dedicated to the 212th anniversary of the founding and the 24th anniversary of the revival of the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University took place. During the competitions 15 matches were played, in which 9 student teams of 1-4 courses of the Ukrainian-language form of study and 1-5 courses of the English-language form of study of the School of Medicine took part. The tournament was held on the initiative and with the support of the Dean of the School of Medicine, Doctor of Medicine, full professor I. V. Belozerov.

On April 20-21, 2017 the XXIV International Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists and Students "Actual Issues of development of new medicines» was held at the National Pharmaceutical University. The School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was presented by the third year student Elina Tsubanova with the scientific work "Influence of the olfactory effects of some essential oils and functional indices of the central nervous system". The work was carried out under the guidance of the instructor of the Department of Pharmacology of the School of Medicine, Candidate of Medicine, associate professor T. V. Sevast'yanova.

Scientometric monitoring of subjects of scientific and publishing activity of Ukraine on indicators of the SciVerse Scopus database was carried out by the Publishing Service "URAN" by order of "Osvita.ua". On the basis of this, the rating of Ukrainian higher educational institutions is compiled. The School of Medicine as a part of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University entered the rating and took the second place among 136 higher educational institutions of Ukraine.

On April 19, 2017, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with representatives of The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) held the first National meeting on issues of immunization and medical reform «Quality of education on immunization. Medical reform and students". The event was held on the eve of the European Immunization Week. Students of the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University Anastasiia Uzlova, Iryna Redina ta Viktoriia Kucherenko were invited to the meeting. The event was also attended by heads of Student Self-Government and activists from 16 medical higher educational institutions of Ukraine. The moderator of the event is Ekaterina Bulavinova, medical expert of UNICEF in Ukraine.

On April 20, 2017 at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University with the support of the Student Council of the University a solemn celebration of the 212th anniversary of the founding and the 24th anniversary of the revival of the School of Medicine took place. As part of the holiday, the morning cultural and entertainment program was held in the hall of the Northern Building of the University and a concert - in the assembly hall of the Main Building. The basis of the celebration was the theme "Back in the Nineties"

Full professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Doctor of Biology Olena M. Fedota took part and presented a report during the 3rd symposium with international participation "Raising of awareness and education on biosafety and biosecurity in Ukraine" that took place on April 5-7, 2017 in Kiev with the support of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ukrainian Biosafety Association, The Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Ukrainian scientific and technological center. The symposium was held pursuant to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine "On biological security of Ukraine", promulgated by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No 220 dated 06.04.2009.
