Head of the Department of Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics is headed by the head of the department, doctor of medical sciences, senior researcher Shevchenko Natalia Stanislavivna - pediatrician, pediatric cardiorheumatologist, specialist in ultrasound diagnostics, who is one of the leading specialists in Ukraine in the field of pediatric rheumatology.

Natalia S. Shevchenko graduated from the Kharkiv Medical Institute in 1992 with a degree in Pediatrics and in 1994 from an internship in pediatrics at the Kharkiv Institute for Advanced Training of Physicians (now the Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education).Immediately after graduating from the institute, she began her career in the research department of the “Institute of Children and Adolescent Health Care of NAMS” - in the Department of Pathology of Adolescents, now - the Department of Cardiorheumatology.Since 2011 she has been working as a leading researcher, has the highest qualification category in the specialties "Pediatrics", "Pediatric Cardiorheumatology", "Ultrasound Diagnostics".

In 1999 she defended her dissertation "Clinical and pathogenetic characteristics of osteopenic syndrome in systemic connective tissue diseases in children and adolescents."In 2015 she received the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences on the basis of the defense of the dissertation on the topic: "Mechanisms of osteoarthrosis formation in adolescence, prediction of its course and substantiation of its development prevention".

In 2013, Shevchenko N.S. received the title of senior researcher, is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, including abroad, monographs, handbooks of pediatricians, manuals, guidelines, information letters, has patents of Ukraine for inventions and utility models, copyright certificates.

Natalia S. Shevchenko widely implements the results of scientific developments in health care practice, is a co-founder of the Association of Pediatric Rheumatologists of Ukraine, scientific moderator of the Congress of the Ukrainian Association of Pediatric Specialties, an active member of the Kharkiv Association of Pediatricians and Rheumatology Association of Ukraine.Shevchenko N.S.is an active participant in the National and European Congresses of Pediatricians, Rheumatologists, Pediatric Rheumatologists, scientific and practical conferences of various levels, organizer of seminars for doctors of different regions of Ukraine.

Natalia S. Shevchenko began her pedagogical activity in 2015 as a professor at the Department of Pediatrics of the Medical Faculty of V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University.On September 27, 2017, she was elected by competition for the position of the head of the newly created Department of Pediatrics № 2 of the Medical Faculty of Kharkiv National University named after VN Karazin.She conducts extensive organizational, methodological and advisory work, she is a member of the Academic Council of the Medical Faculty, a member of the editorial board of scientific journals "Actual problems of modern medicine" of the Medical Faculty and "Health of children and adolescents" of SI "ICAHC ofNAMS».

The sphere of scientific and professional interests of Natalia Shevchenko at this stage of her activity is the issue of early diagnosis of rheumatic pathology in children and predicting the long-term course of these diseases in order to improve their prognosis and quality of life of young patients. The results of its activities in recent years are the active introduction of ultrasound in the clinical practice of pediatric rheumatologists in Ukraine.
