On November 23-24, 2018 instructors of the Department of Hygiene and Social Medicine of the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, headed by the Head of the Department, Candidate of Medicine, Associate Professor Z.V. Sotnikova-Meleshkina took part in the IV International Congress of the Polish Organization of Public Health "Public Health and the Environment". During the congress, discussions were held between representatives of the Ministry of Health of Poland and other countries of the European Union, regarding important issues in the field of public health, protection of child and adolescent health, as well as a number of aspects of cooperation in designated issues between Ukraine and the European Union.

On the 13th of December 2018, the third meeting was held within the framework of the educational project "Neurological control". The event was organized by the representatives of the Ukrainian Medical Students’ Association, in the framework of the Medical Education committee (SCOME), on the basis of the State Organization “Institute of Neurology, Psychiatry and Narcology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”, with the support of the Department of Clinical Neurology, Psychiatry and Narcology of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, within the framework of the university program "Students health".

On December 21, 2018 the charity winter ball was held for the fourth time at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, organized on the initiative of the University Student Council with the support of the University administration.

On December 18, 2018, a regular meeting of the student scientific circle of the Department of General and Clinical Pathology of the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University took place. In the work of the group, except for students of the 2nd and 3rd courses, the head of the department, Doctor of Medicine, full professor O. S. Protsenko and a number of instructors took part. Such interest in the meeting of the student circle is due to the subject of the meeting. Before the audience the report “Congenital Heart Diseases. Causes and stages of formation” was made by the doctor of the Department of Cardiac Surgery and Emergency Cardiology of the State Organization “V. T. Zaitsev Institute of General and Emergency Surgery of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”, well-known expert in the field of ultrasound diagnostics D. O. Kulikova.

An employee of the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University Larisa Zhukova took part in the training of future coaches on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). These couches will train rehabilitation specialists, medical workers and workers in the social and educational spheres to use the new classification for Ukraine. The training was conducted by the ICF Research Branch organization with the support of the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency (SDC), organized by the International Charity Foundation “Ukrainian Public Health Foundation”.

On December 11, 2018, the Department of General and Clinical Pathology of the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University held the second student scientific conference for English-speaking students "Topical issues of modern histology". The conference was attended by the second year foreign students of the English-language form of study of the School of Medicine: Nahal Shirinkami, Muhammad Izhiman, Nursel Abas, Nassr Said, Fatemeh Alsadat Mousavi, Mbobite Gold Morion, Benjamin Ofurhie и Oumaima Benkhadda. In addition, students of the Ukrainian-language form of study of the 3rd course also took part in the conference: Kseniya Arbuzova, Mariya Nelyapina and Vlady`slav Gvozd`, they presented reports in English.

On December 8, 2018 the I stage of the All-Ukrainian Contest in Defending Scientific Works of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was held. In the scientific unit "Chemistry and Biology", section "Valeology" the 1st place was taken by Hanna Omel’yanchuk, a 10th grade pupil of Kharkiv Lyceum No. 89, whose scientific supervisor was Associate Professor of the Department of Hygiene and Social Medicine Liliya Ivanivna Ponomar’ova. The theme of the scientific work "Quality of Life as One of the Criteria for Adaptation to the Educational Activities among Primary School Pupils."

On the basis of the Department of Human Anatomy of the School of Medicine, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, continues to conduct student scientific seminars as part of the student society of the normal human anatomy.

On November 23, 2018 the 4rd year student of the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University Yuliya Zhadan took part in the scientific-and-practical international conference for young scientists “Medicine of the XXI century”, having been held on the basis of Kharkiv Medical Academy of Post-Graduate Education.
