Scientific work of the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry, Nacrology and Medical Psychology

Scientific research has been carried out by the staff of the department since its foundation. Scientific research dedicate of different aspects of neurology, psychiatry, medical psychology, which are actually today. Cognitive disorders are one among there themes, which represent impotent medico-social problem now. Its relevance is increasing, because the proportion of the population over 65 is increasing. Cognitive disorders are manifestations of many neurologic, psychiatric diseases.They are occur in period after stroke, as effects of chronic cerebrovascular insufficiency, at the multiple sclerosis, Wilson’s disease, nonpsychotic psychic disturbances and endogenic psychoses, alcohol dependence and at other diseases. Therefore, the teachers of the Department decided to combine their observations in research work «Study of peculiarities of the cognitive functions at the peoples with different types of neurological and psychiatric diseases for improving diagnostic and treatment measures». Scientific work implement at the different medical treatment and diagnostic institutions. Basic among all is State Institution “Institute of Neurology, Psychiatry and Narcology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”, which is clinical base of this Department.

Scientific director and mentor is Tamara S. Mishchenko -Doctor of Medicine, Professor in Neurology, Honored Scientist of Ukraine, Academician of the Department of Mental Health of the Academy of Higher Education of Ukraine, Deputy Head of the Association of Neurologists, Psychiatrists and Narcologists of Ukraine, Vice-President of the UkrainianAnti-Stroke Association.

6 Doctors of Medicineand 16 Candidates of Medicine are scientific potential of Department. The collective of the Department are part of scientific and medical public in Ukraine and in the world,are the participant in the work of professional scientificmedical Associations and Societies. The main scientists awarded with certificates of honor several times from National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Kharkiv Regional State Administration and professional Associations.

Scientific and practical Journal of Psychiatry, Neurology and Medical Psychology from V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is published on the Department from June 2019 year. The journal is in the list of scientific specialized publications of Ukraine of category B: in the field of medical sciences (the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine №409 from 17.03.2020): in the field of specialization 222 Medicine “Neurology”, “Psychiatry, Narcology”, 225 Medical Psychology; in the field of psychological sciences (the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine №627 from 14.05.2020): in the field of specialization 053 Psychology «Medical Psychology».

Journal of Psychiatry, Neurology and Medical Psychology publishes problem articles, results of original and experimental research; articles of survey, debatable and historical nature, short reports, lectures, reviews, cases from clinical practice, materials of informative nature, works about teaching neurology, psychiatry and medical psychology, organization and management of neuropsychiatric services, pharmacotherapy and other materials devoted to pressing problems of neurology, psychiatry, narcology medical psychology.

The Department was organized and implemented than more 10 scientific-practice conferences. Teachers of the Department share their best practices in the reports and articles, at the during lectures and practice lessons with students. Their works published in manuals, guidelines, periodicals, including those indexed in the international scientific metric databases Scopus and WoS.

Essential of the scientific work of Department is organization Student Scientific Section, which is the part ofScientific Society of Students, Postgraduates, Doctoral Candidates and Youthful Scientists of School of Medicine.

Students from Student Scientific Section participate at the analysis of clinical cases, consultations, forums, scientific-practice conferences, congresses andscientific researches with teachers of the Department together. Were prepared than more 50 students, which made on oral presentationsat the 16 Ukrainian and Internationalconferences. 2 studentswon an international internship abroad grant.Sazonova T.M., Kutikov D.O., Delich O.B., Gvozd V.V., Zhadan Yu.G., Shepel V.V. showed themselves as the best among the most talented youth.
