Student's Self-government

The Student Self-Government is an integral part of civil self-government of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. All students of the university have equal rights to be members of the Student Self-Government. The Student Academic Council and the Student Quarters Council are representive and executive organs at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The Conference of university students is the highest organ of the Student Self-Government.

The Student Academic Council is the executive organ of independent and leading student social work, that is representative of the university in local, regional and international student organizations. The Student Academic Council of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University consist of the Student Councils of all schools, including the School of Medicine. With the participation of the Student Academic Council all vital issues of functioning of certain schools and the University in general are solved.

The activities of the Student Academic Councils of the university and schools are regulated by the legislation of Ukraine, decisions and orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Charter of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and the Regulations of the Student Self-Government.

The supreme organ of the Student Self-Government of the School of Medicine is Conference of Students of the School of Medicine, which elects delegates to the Conference of the University Students and to the Student Academic Council of the School of Medicine, and also defines the structure and the work direction of the University.

The Student Academic Council of the School of Medicine ensures the implementation of decisions of the Conference of Students of the School of Medicine, as a representive and executive organ of the Student Self-Government.

The Student Dean, the Associate Student Dean and the Secretary of the Student Academic Council, which activities are regulated by the Regulations of the Student Self-Government, are elected among the members of the Student Academic Council of the School of Medicine.

The Student Academic Council of the School of Medicine is structured into functional divisions (committees), working on the solution of problems of different groups, including:

  • Cultural Committee – provides the promotion of the cultural life of the School of Medicine
  • Social and Charity Committee – provides the opportunity to achieve a socially acceptable standard of living for certain population groups
  • Information Committee – provides the dissemination of useful information among students of the School of Medicine
  • Legal Committee – guarantees the protection of students ' rights and control of the observance of the educational process norms
  • The Committee for work with international students - takes measures aimed at the consolidation of international students
  • The Committee for student initiatives – provides the implementation and realization of projects for development of student initiatives
  • The Committee for public relations – develops programs of cooperation with public organizations outside of the School of Medicine
