History of Department of Dentistry

The Department of Dentistry was organized in order to expand the activities of the School of Medicine to train specialists in September 2021 by the Order of Acting Rector of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University protocol № 6 of May 31, 2021.

The duties of the head of the department are assigned to the doctor of medical sciences, professor Nikonov Andrey Yurievich, the author of more than 150 scientific works, 10 patents.

The staff of the Department of Dentistry is made up of researchers and pedagogical workers who have extensive experience in Kharkiv National Medical University and Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education in training dentists, masters, interns, dentists, graduate students, specialists, trainees, clinical residents, doctors, residents of foreign specialists, resident doctors, PhD students. The staff of the department includes 3 doctors of medical sciences (among them 2 professors) and 8 candidates of medical sciences, laboratory assistants with medical education.

Teachers of the department are highly qualified clinicians, have certificates of doctors in all areas of dental activity, have the most modern and classic methods of dental care, constantly improving their skills in Ukraine and in leading medical institutions abroad.

The research interests of the staff of the department cover various areas of modern dentistry related to the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with dental and maxillofacial pathology.

Most teachers have a second higher education in higher school pedagogy (educational level - master's degree), confirmed their professional proficiency in English with certificates of passing the B2 level exam. Employees of the Department of Dentistry have completed internships in leading institutions of higher education in Ukraine and around the world.
