Since September 2022, the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Immunology has been headed by Associate Professor Olha Volobuieva.
Olha Volobuieva graduated with honors from the Medical and Preventive Faculty of Kharkiv National Medical University in 1995 with a degree in Medical and Preventive Care.
In 2001, she defended her thesis for the degree of PhD on the topic: “Vasoactive factors (endothelin-1 and nitric oxide) and the hemostasis system in patients with diphtheria (clinical and experimental study).” From 2001 to 2009, she held the position of assistant professor at the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. From September 2009 to September 2022, she was an associate professor at the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Immunology of the Medical Faculty of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Since September 2022, she has headed the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Immunology.
Scientific activity
Olha Volobuieva is the author of 186 scientific works, including more than 100 scientific articles in Scopus, professional publications, 5 patents, co-author of 60 methodological recommendations for students and teachers on infectious pathology, and 3 textbooks. She has repeatedly participated in seminars, plenums, congresses, and conferences in the field of infectious diseases, including as a speaker. She is constantly improving her qualifications. She is an active member of the Association of Infectious Disease Specialists of Ukraine.
At the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Immunology, she teaches courses on “Epidemiology,” “Infectious Diseases,” “Tropical Diseases,” and “Problems of HIV Infection” in Ukrainian and English.
She does organizational, methodological, and consulting work, worked as the department's deputy head for 5 years, is a member of the Academic Council of the Faculty of Medicine, implements modern methods of diagnosis and therapy for infectious patients at the Kharkiv Regional Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, and has the highest certification category.
In 2019, she completed a medical internship at the Medical University of Lublin and received an international certificate in “New and Innovative Teaching Methods in Medicine.” In 2022, she completed a medical internship—The International Postgraduate Practical Internship “Teaching and Research in a Contemporary University: Challenges, Solutions, and Perspectives” organized by the Faculty of Education, University of Białystok. She completed an internship at the LMU Clinic in Munich and Charite in Berlin under the program “Support for medical faculties in Ukraine for the integration of digital clinical cases into medical research,” 12.11-26.11.2022.
In 2022, she received a Master's degree M22 No. 068237, Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy, educational program “Administrative Management.”
For her conscientious attitude to the performance of her duties, many years of diligent and productive work, she was awarded a Certificate of Merit from V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, and for her significant contribution to the development of education and science, significant work achievements, and high professionalism, she received a Letter of Thanks from the Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration.
