On March 31, 2026, the Department of Internal Medicine hosted a scheduled meeting of the Student Research Society. The event served as a platform for the in-depth analysis of complex clinical cases and the discussion of modern evidence-based medicine strategies.

The following scientific reports were presented during the session:

Speakers: Daria Tarasivna Honchar, Mariia Romanivna Homonilova (5th-year students). Presentation Title: «Long-term Consequences of COVID-19: Polymorbidity in Clinical Practice.» The authors presented a thorough analysis of systemic complications following viral infection. Using a real-life clinical case, they demonstrated the dynamics of disease progression – from initial pneumonia to the development of severe systemic damage to internal organs.

Speaker: Taisiia Denysivna Sukhomlinova (5th-year student). Presentation Title: «Post-COVID Multi-comorbid Patient: Between Uncontrolled Hypertension and Decompensated Diabetes.» This work explored the challenges of managing patients with combined pathologies. The speaker emphasised the clinical tactics for a patient experiencing decompensation of core metabolic processes against a background of resistant arterial hypertension.

Speaker: Anna Oleksandrivna Opikunova (4th-year student). Presentation Title: «Multidisciplinary Approach in the Diagnosis of Rectal Adenocarcinoma: From Massive Haemorrhage to Clinical Stabilisation.» The presentation was dedicated to algorithms for oncological vigilance in therapeutic practice. It highlighted the importance of well-coordinated interaction between specialists when providing aid to a patient with an acute haemorrhage followed by subsequent oncological screening.

Speakers: Anna Serhiivna Iliienko, Daria Mykhailivna Slobodina (4th-year students). Presentation Title: «Clinical Case of Perniosis: Features of Diagnosis and Differentiation from Other Nosological Forms.» The students introduced the audience to the specifics of diagnosing local cold-induced injuries. The primary focus was placed on differential diagnostic criteria used to distinguish perniosis from similar therapeutic and dermatological conditions.

The presentations sparked keen interest and active discussion among the participants. Faculty members provided expert commentary on each case, noting the high quality of preparation demonstrated by the young researchers. Collaborative work on these complex diagnostic tasks facilitated the development of clinical reasoning and the refinement of professional skills for future physicians.

The staff of the Department of Internal Medicine expresses its gratitude to all speakers for their insightful presentations and wishes them continued success in their scientific endeavours!
