Scientific work of the Department of Normal Morphology

Research work is an integral part of the Department’s activities. Through their scientific research, Department staff members have established themselves as recognized experts in their respective fields—both within Ukraine and internationally.

Currently, the Department is conducting two research projects on the following topics:

1. Investigation of the impact of maternal pathology on the development of the fetus and young children (State Registration Number: 0124U001606).

2. Variability of the anatomical features of thoracic and abdominal organs in the context of performing video-assisted thoracoscopic and laparoscopic surgical interventions; state registration number: 0123U100286. In 2019, a staff member of the department defended a Candidate of Sciences dissertation in the specialty "Pathological Anatomy" at Kharkiv National Medical University. In 2024 and 2026, a staff member and a postgraduate student of the department defended dissertations under the "Medicine" educational-scientific program, earning the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

The Head of the Department is a member of the standing specialized academic councils D 64.051.33 at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and D 64.600.03 at Kharkiv National Medical University for the defense of doctoral dissertations. He regularly serves as an official opponent and reviewer for the dissertations of candidates seeking the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences, and has repeatedly chaired specialized ad hoc academic councils for the defense of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the field of Medicine.

An integral part of the department’s research activities is the organization of a student scientific circle, which functions as a structural unit of the Scientific Community of Students, Postgraduate Students, Doctoral Candidates, and Young Scientists of the Faculty of Medicine. Members of the department’s student scientific circle, together with faculty staff, actively participate in clinical case reviews and medical consultations, scientific-practical conferences, congresses, forums, and symposiums, as well as in scientific research.
