Initiation and elections among foreign students

On December 5, 2018, in the spacious building of sports palace “Lokomotiv” more than two thousand foreign students from the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University gathered to hold a ceremony of initiating freshmen to students and electing the head of the Student Council of foreign students.

President V. S. Bakirov, Head of the Department of Science and Education of the Regional State Administration L. H. Karpova, Dean of the School of Medicine I. V. Beloz’orov, Head of the Institute of International Education O. O. Navroc’kyj delivered greeting speech to the students. The event was also attended by the Dean of the School of Law, T. Ye. Kahanovs’ka, and the Dean of the School of International Economic Relations and Travel Business, V. I. Sydorov.

“This year 1105 foreign citizens entered the university, mainly from India, Nigeria, Egypt and Jordan. 915 of them have chosen the School of Medicine. For comparison, there are only 63 1st year Ukrainian students who study medicine. “It is not easy, but interesting, to manage such a team. The real authority in such a diverse community can only be achieved through respect and love to the university, to the work you do, and to each student,” said the dean of the School of Medicine, Doctor of Medicine, Full Professor I. V. Beloz’orov.

The 3rd year students of the School of Medicine Yezekvu Preshes Kemkanma from Nigeria, Madomin Asrorov from Uzbekistan and John Madzhestik Prince from India were candidates for the position of the Head of the Student Council for Foreign Students. Voting was held via SMS with the involvement of the mobile operator Kyivstar. According to the results Madomin Asrorov, the 3rd year student of the School of Medicine, became the head of the Student Council of Foreign Students of Karazin University.

The event was finished with bright acrobatic performances by dancing teams of students.
