On March 30-31, 2018 students of the School of medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University took part in the V Allukrainian Contest in Practical Surgery (Kyiv, Ukraine). For the fifth year in a row, a competition for students and young professionals has been held in Kiev, in which the most talented and motivated future surgeons from different cities of Ukraine take part. The contest format includes simulation operations on organocomplexes of pigs (wet lab) and laboratory animals (vet lab), as well as working on surgical simulators. The main subject of the competition is practical skills applicable in various areas of surgery. The contest is judged by experienced doctors, teachers, heads of scientific and practical sections, chief doctors of clinics.
The organizer and initiator of the competition is the surgical club "Armata Manus" (Kyiv, Ukraine). This year, the venue and co-organizer of the contest is a private higher educational institution "Kyiv Medical University". Teams traditionally took part in the competition from several medical higher educational establishments from different cities of Ukraine: Kiev, Kharkiv, Vinnitsa, Odessa, Donetsk, Lviv, Poltava, Dnepr.
More than 100 participants in 11 teams took the challenge in the form of 14 sub-competitions:
Students of the School of Medicine became members of two Kharkiv teams: “Cor Fortis” and “Factotum”. For most of our students, this was the first experience at this kind of competition, despite that fact, the team "Cor Fortis" got the highest team rating having won an honorable trophy "Cup of the Winner", and the team "Factotum" took the prestigious 6th place.

O. Morozov (Department of Surgical Diseases) and the Assistant of Department A. S. Telezhnyi (Department of Surgical Diseases, Operative Surgery and Topographical Anatomy).
