The School of Medicine welcomed the guests - doctors from the Istanbul University Clinic Medipol

On 20-21th of October, 2016 the School of Medicine of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was visited by colleagues from Istanbul University Clinic Medipol(Turkey): oncologist surgeon Rashad Rzazade and Medical Physicist Nadir Kuchuk. The meeting organized by the Vice-President of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University for Scientific and Pedagogic Work (for International Cooperation), Candidate of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, Professor Z. F. Nazyrov.

During the visit Turkish experts made a series of lectures "Modern methods of radiation treatment of patients with malignant diseases" for students of the School of Medicine.Colleagues discussed issues of the prevalence of malignant tumors in the world and their country, shared experience of radiotherapy department work of the Istanbul University Clinic, described the results of cancer treatment by radiotherapy with IMRT modulated intensity and stereotactic radiotherapy.

According to the speakers, it follows that in recent years an increase in the number of cases of lung cancer, breast, liver, colon, cervix, ovary, skin, and thyroid were noted in Turkey.

This fact was a scientific justification for the development and opening of the high-tech modern centers of treatment of malignant tumors in the country.One of these centers is the Istanbul University Clinic Medipol.It works there 3 oncologist, 4 medical physicists, 11 radiotherapists and 3 nurses at the Department of Radiotherapy of the Clinic. During a year the center can take more than 1,000 patients.The most advanced equipment in the clinic are: Trilogy linear accelerators and TrueBeamSTx, device Gamma Knife Perfexion for radiosurgery, device for brachytherapy, and CyberKnife M6 (CyberKnife M6 series). The colleagues shared their experience and the peculiarities of the equipment with the experts of the School of Medicine.

The result of the meeting was consideration of prospects of signing an agreement on mutually advantageous cooperation between the Istanbul University Clinic Medipol and Karazin University. The agreement is being developed by Vice-President for Scientific and Pedagogic Works (for International Cooperation), Candidate of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, Professor Z. F. Nazyrov, the Dean of the School of Medicine, Doctor of Medicine, Professor I. V. Belozyorov and members of foreign delegations. There are joint educational programs, exchange of experience in the field of medical technology, joint research, joint conferences, and the use of telemedicine technologies in the long term of this cooperation.

Nazyrov delivered a lecture on international cooperation between V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and Istanbul University Clinic Medipol (Turkey).

Foreign guests visited the State Institution "S. P. Grigoriev Institute of Medical Radiology of NAMS of Ukraine", where they got acquainted with the latest developments of this medical institution.
