August 24, 2026 the Department of General Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Palliative Medicine hosted an international scientific and practical seminar dedicated to the modern scientific rationale behind Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) methods, their clinical application, and self-correction practices.
As part of the event, a presentation titled "Scientific Rationale and Clinical Application of Chinese Medicine Methods" was delivered, exploring modern approaches to the use of acupuncture, electroacupuncture, and classic TCM pharmacological forms. Participants reviewed the existing evidence base for applying acupuncture in managing chronic and headache pain, psycho-emotional disorders, insomnia, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Special attention was given to analyzing the efficacy of complex TCM herbal formulas in addressing traumatic brain injuries, anxiety, and other pathological conditions.
"Six Healing Sounds" Practice
A highlight of the seminar was a lecture by a guest expert from the USA – Teresa Brosnan, a licensed Oregon acupuncturist with 31 years of clinical experience.
Teresa Brosnan presented on the topic "Six Healing Sounds: Creating Health Through Three Secrets – Posture, Sound, and Imagery."
During the practical segment, participants had the opportunity to learn and try a traditional self-correction technique that combines breathing exercises, specific body postures, sound vibrations, and color visualization. The practice aimed to reduce stress levels and harmonize one's psycho-emotional state.
The event served as a platform for professional exchange and discussions on integrating modern scientific approaches into the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Prospects for International Cooperation
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants discussed prospects for future international cooperation and organizing new educational, scientific, and practical lectures. In particular, plans were made to continue discussions on modern electroacupuncture methods.
Holding such events fosters the expansion of international academic ties, facilitates the exchange of professional expertise, and introduces students and academic faculty to contemporary research approaches in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
